There are two things to share with you here today, the first is that the AUTUMN issue of RURAL magazine is out, you can see it here.
I’ve decided to retire [this blog] and move to the country…actually RURAL magazine is where I am moving to. My journey isn’t ending it’s just branching off in a new direction.
Time to change it up
After 9 years of blogging I’ve decided to focus my energies on RURAL magazine.
This is the perfect time to concentrate on growing RURAL magazine into the best online digital magazine that it can become. That will happen with the help of you, our readers, and our contributors who share their stories and photography on RURAL.
My blogging years
I started out on Blogger as Muddy Boot Dreams, my first post was about how much I loved Hydrangeas.
It received 2 comments…
There were loud whoops when they came in.
After a while my blog changed names to The Light Laughed when I moved to Word Press from Blogger…
But I’ve found that Canadians pay a premium to interact socially, add approx. 30% to any costs for hosting, so I’ve decided not to renew after my contract runs out. [Which should be sometime in November] Retiring now gives me a chance to backup all of my data.
I’m not leaving social media, just moving in another direction.
I’ve made amazing friendships, and learned so much from my years of blogging, it wasn’t an easy decision to put this blog aside, I’ll be staying in touch though. I’m looking forward to what the future brings for RURAL magazine. We hope to see you there because we love what we are creating and sharing in the magazine and it only gets better with each issue. There are so many exciting directions we can go in, and we can’t wait to share them with you.
RURAL is for you if you are a mid-bloom woman, so please come and visit, because your heart lives here.
Some things to keep in mind.
- The Okanagan is full of stunning beauty, you’ll still find me sharing it on my personal Instagram grid, I’m there as Jen.TheLightLaughed.
- RURAL magazine has it’s own Instagram account you can find us sharing here.

So many heartfelt thanks to all of you who’ve spent your time with me in this amazing blogging world, it’s been an adventure, and a wonderful learning experience, I cherish your friendship and comments, and I hope to see you at our new home at RURAL magazine.
