We all know that there are no such things as ghosts, but how do you explain what seems to be unexplainable. Then what constitutes a reasonable explanation?
Our house is probably around 30 years old, not that old for a house. It has some normal house noises, just the everyday stuff that you learn to ignore. There are echos from the laminate flooring, and it’s not cluttered with furniture. Sounds carry, we can hear everything clearly in our bedroom, not a good thing.
I’m having some issues adjusting to the larger space, after living in the condo for so long, you get used to tuning out the extra noises caused by other people in the building. It’s also pitch black out here, no streetlights…
It’s during the night that we experience the unusual bang, followed by a loud scraping noise from the kitchen. It sounds as if a chair is being dragged over the floor, we have heard it from the living room when we are watching TV, and even after we go to bed. It’s clear, loud, and very much there, it’s not the furnace, it’s not a door, it’s not a pipe. And yes, my husband hears it also.
And yes, my husband hears it also.
At first, we thought the cat was jumping off the chair onto the floor, pushing it away as he leaped.
That was great until the night the Boo, and I woke up together at 2 am, and I heard “the” noise coming from the kitchen. Boo was on the bed, laying on my feet during this time. I was sitting up, touching his fur, he wasn’t downstairs.
Early the other morning it was dark outside, bitterly snowing, my husband was out, it was nasty weather. I still had the window coverings closed, and I heard the noise coming from the kitchen, I got up to look, there was nothing in the room, no explanation for what is happening.
A mere moment after I went back to the office, sat down at the computer, the lights went out in the entire house.
Pitch black, and quiet.
Disquieting when you are by yourself in a dark unfamiliar house. Not so brave I abandoned the cat went and stood in my housecoat under the eaves, in my bare feet, in the cold, snowing dark morning waving at the garbage collector.
Don’t laugh…I just couldn’t stay inside.
It was dark outside and in, we have a unfinished basement, no one else is home, there shouldn’t be odd noises.
I was hoping that my husband would come back soon after that, but no such luck. After checking the snow for footprints I went back inside.
Please, give me a reasonable explanation for that noise.
